8 July 2024 Just back from Napal, Club member Lochan described how life is different for women in Napal, living in a patriarchal society. It is particularly difficult for women who are poor and disabled. In 1998 the Disabled Women Association was established, and a support Centre was built in Kathmandu by community volunteers. It has supported not just disabled women but also young people from 11 to 22 years old, with a range of disabilities. The Centre is currently setting up small business projects with a view to becoming self-supportive.The Club is currently considering what it could do to help. Thank you Lochan for a thought-provoking talk.
